Online Extravaganza

Making Christmas Bright

So excited...I think I actually made time to blog TWO times this week and sent out THREE newsletters.  Ok, one was a catch-up for the 12 Weeks of Xmas but hey, it's still out!  And it's only WEDNESDAY!  Whoo Hoo...

because butterflies are a much nicer topic than my, a little overwhelming, to-do list.   But it's nice when butterflies are ON my to-do list beacause then I can think of nice things as I'm crossing off things on that list!  Whoo Hoo!  This was one of the cards that we used WAY back in July for my Take Three Class.  I didn't want to miss out on the opportunity to share this fun technique with you.  I would imagine that it would be pretty cool with Autumn Leaves or better yet, snowflakes?  I think if I get time this week I might give it a try....

Fall 2018 Camp Stamp-in-Oga

Seems like I haven't posted since the LAST Camp?  How can that be...oh right, Adria's boyfriend proposed on the evening of the LAST Stamp camp in June and of course, she said "YES!".  So they decided that they would like to be married at our house in the fall of 2018!?!   and so we jumped into full-scale wedding prep mode and with a lot of help from friends and family, we pulled of a lovely day filled with friends, family and a lot of food.  It was amazing.

and that brings us to today...we've gotten the landscaping done, a daughter married and it's back to stamping and where we are getting ready to bring you another great event this upcoming weekend.  So I'm hoping that you will forgive the lapse in blogging...we've been a tad preoccupied, but it was so worth every second of it as it was a very special day.

This is one of the special cards we will be making at camp this weekend.  It's lovely!

Summer Fun

Ella has been off of school for a full week and a half and we've settled into a routine of sorts so it's not "quite" as chaotic as it could be.  Of course, the wheels can fall off the bus at any given moment...take this morning for instance.  BIG plans for a productive day in the studio and then, the proverbial wheels went a rollin' own the hill.  Just as I was getting the video equipment set up, incessant and frantic barking alerts me to an "issue" and when I rush out to shush the little darlin's, lest they wake the neighborhood, (apparently let sleeping dogs lie, only refers to actual dogs in their books and not neighbors and impish children) I find that two "bird" dogs have managed to tree a wood chuck.  This act was probably because I spent last night, snarkily telling them they were obviously bird dogs since they couldn't manage to chase away the raccoon that I found on my porch last night...Told them it was obvious they weren't coon hounds, but I digress.  Chaos reigned supreme.  The wood chuck fell out of the tree but managed to get a couple of licks in before the fight was over...me in my jammies, chasing dogs with a critter in their mouths around our yard.  Spent the morning treating up the wounded and dealing with the causality and mopping blood off my floor.  All it a days work?  I prefer not!  I just want to stamp.  Needless to say the productivity quotient was a bit low today.  

And  in the aftermath, Ms. Ella who should have been doing her chores has decided that it would be a good idea to take colored pencils to her lips.  Imagine Bozo the clown crossed with Kylie Jenner.  A pox on those dumb DIY videos these kids are watching nowadays!  Albeit, it's not the Tide Pod challenge but as I've told her yet again.."just because you can, doesn't mean you should".  September is looking mighty fine already.

So when I say I need to spend time in my Happy Place, you will know I really mean it and need it.  Here's a card that I stamped this week for my "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" class featuring the fabulous new color refresh we had this year and showcaseing some of my new favorite colors.

I'm fairly certain that somewhere on the internet was the inspiration for this card.  I designed it at 4am the morning of class and I'm pretty sure the coffee hadn't kicked it quite yet and I am equally sure that something this gorgeous wouldn't be completely my doing, especially that early and that close to wire.  I've looked but I can't seem to find the "seed of design idea" , as I would love to give design cred to the appropriate stamper.

Summer Camp Stamp-In-Oga

How, oh how has an entire month slipped by and I haven't blogged.  Did you miss me?  Did you think I slipped off the face of the earth?  I've been here...and I did miss YOU!  It's been exciting here in the studio.  I've hosted a booth at the Scrapbook Expo here in Milwaukee the first part of May, then Adria graduated as did her bff, Caleb.  Caleb's mom and I hosted their graduation party and we kinda joked that hopefully it's a dry run for bigger things to come.  SHhhhh...don't tell them we said that.  :)  Still working extra days at the hospital and trying desperately to get things in the ground here in the garden.  I'm a little afraid I'm losing the war....Now it's time to switch gears and focus on Camp that's coming up in 3 short weeks.

Beautiful Day Scrapbook Layout

It's a Beautiful Day

It's a Beautiful Day...in more ways than one.  It IS a beautiful day.  Finally warm, nary a cloud in the sky and the flowers are getting a little sunshine to encourage them to grow.  I've also used the Beautiful Day stamp set here to create a fun little card that we made on Monday at my Coffee and Cards class.  Isn't it stinkin' cute?  I was inspired by fellow demonstrator Patty Bennett as she shared this technique with us a couple of weeks ago.  It's super easy..check it out.  You ink, stamp, and fussy-cut.  Bam....adorable card, super quick.  The trick is in using the Painted with Love Specialty Designer Series Paper.  Super cute, no?

Here's the card...the stampers LOVED it.

I've used a fair amount of retiring product on this card.  Here's a few that you may want to add to your list and don't wait too long as several items ARE while supplies last.  My faves on this card are Painted with Love Specialty, Petal Passion Designer Paper and the retiring Rose Wonder stamp set...now, don't let that big rose in the set throw you off.  It is a little intimidating but the words....so worth it.  I've used the set more times than I can count and I think the sayings alone are worth the cost of the set.  Good sympathy sayings are hard to come by...get this set!  I also used some pretty "non-traditional" color combo here too.  Rich Razzleberry and Calypso Coral.  I think they work well together.  I'll share a scrapbook page tomorrow with this same color combo...love love love it and am so glad NEITHER of these two colors are going in our color revamp.

We Must Celebrate Scrapbook Page

Working in the studio this morning and STILL working on sharing pages from recent classes. I'm sharing the office with something I had NEVER in a million years thought I'd be sharing it with...

We picked up our "bee packages" on Saturday to replace the hives that died out over the winter.  I went to check on them on Monday afternoon and  one looked completely dead....the guy at the "bee farm" suggested I bring them to a warmer place and give them honey to see if they will revive.  We live in WI and where exactly would there be a "warmer" spot?!  Our garage and barn isn't heated...so that left the office.  Yes, we brought the entire hive (it's sealed up-supposedly) into the office to warm.  Well the Good news is that my hive is a "Lazarus" hive and the bees are reviving and the Bad news is the weather forecast doesn't look to improve until tomorrow.  I don't want to risk setting them back outside if they are a tad fragile so hence, I'm sharing the office with a bunch of bees.  Good news...the $130 investment in a new package of bees isn't a complete loss (I'll check on my queen once they are outside! I'm not that brave to open the hive completely up indoors!  That would seem to be a recipe for disaster although I could probably make a fortune on America's Funniest Videos or something) and the Bad News...there must be a little hole somewhere in the hive box itself and now that they are moving, several are escaping.  I keep scooping them back up off the floor and dumping them into the hive.  Seriously...20 years ago I would never have imagined this as my life...not sure what I was imagining, but I'm fairly confident, this wasn't it! 

I have class tomorrow night and I'm pretty sure my wonderful scrappers wouldn't be so enamored with the experience so rest assured the bees will be moved out to their spring quarters tomorrow morning as soon as the temps are above freezing and all stray bees will either be shooed out to fend for themselves or become a diversion for the dogs.  I had to send the dogs outdoors this morning cuz they were pestering the ones that keep escaping.  My nerves are a little taunt from worrying about this, to begin with, so the dogs had to go. 

So that's my day...it's just a nut house, goat rodeo, 3 ring circus, zoo...you name it and we are it....so the little menagerie on this page pretty much sums up life around here.  And speaking of a 3 Ring circus...I've created these pages for an upcoming Girl Scout Camping weekend in June.  I'm not sure what's crazier...a troop of 5th graders camping or a studio full of bees..but regardless, Emerald Envy makes for a good Girl Scout Green - so stock up!  I love this We Must Celebrate stamp set too as it's just SOOO stinkin' cute.  It, also, is retiring so if it's on YOUR list...get it today.  Can't wait to take photos of those little Girl Scout animals to add to this page.

Wedding/Shower or Birthday Layout

As all good paper hoarders are well aware, all you really need on a page is some really awesome Designer Paper.  That is why you don't settle  for a single sheet of any paper on the shelf, catalog or in the store.  If one sheet is good, then four sheets will be that much better, seriously.  What if I need to make a double page layout...I'm going to need at least two and if I have a lot of photos...to be safe, I'll get 4 sheets.  I'm a little bit that way with fabric too...I can't simple purchase a fat quarter,  what if I need to use it for binding...so let's get a yard, no wait, I better get 1 and 1/2 yards, just to be safe...Paper, Fabric...it's all the same addiction. 

But this page uses less that 3" of some of my most favorite paper in the Spring Occasions catalog, leaving me LOTS to make companion pages.  Because I have at least four sheets of this scrumpdilioumcious paper!  That Sweet Soiree Specialty Designer Series paper is a pack of paper that all good scrapbookers should probably have at least two packs of.  For real.  It's GORGEOUS!  What's not to like about the silver foil on each an every sheet.  DIVINE....but it is on our retiring list...so don't wait.  It's while supplies last and you will be MAD, MAD, Mad when it's sold out and you can't make lovely pages like this one from March's Layout class.  It would make a lovely page for a wedding, a bridal shower or even a birthday.

I'm using mine for photos of Adria's boyfriend's brother's wedding back in July.  Adria and Caleb were attendents in the wedding in Salt Lake City.  It was one of the prettiest weddings ever from what I've been told.  The couple then had a reception here in WI and we had the privilege of celebrating with the new couple.  And as it just so happened, Adria's dress, conveniently, goes well with the Berry Burst.  Love it when they turn out like this....and just like that, the event is scrap booked.  So if you are looking to step up your scrapbooking game and knock out a lot of pages rather quickly, attend Layouts Class this week on Thursday, April 19th.  Studio doors are open from 4pm - 9pm to work up your pages.  Drop in and make your 4 pages.  It shouldn't take you more than 2 hours, I would think and it's scads of fun.

More Scrapbook Layouts - It's My Party

One of the perks of being a paper hoarder is that you can whip up layouts with nary a backward glace.  I have resolved to make sure each month I'm pulling out retiring Designer Paper to use in my layouts for class.  I was ruthless a while back about going thru my scraps and I purged and donated a ton...but I still have a lot remaining.  But it's all good...I can justify more and I still have scads to use.  This layout is a true conglomeration of new, retiring, returning and REALLY retired...

For the REALLY retired...I used the It's My Party Designer Series Paper and the Tasteful Trim Bigz Dies (I'm pretty sure I'll never get rid of that die as it's awesome for  scrapbooking.  The recently retiring, I'm using the Sweet & Sassy Framelits.  These are the heart dies and I will tell you if you don't have a heart framelit set, this is a good one and there isn't anything in the upcoming catalog that would be a good substitute.  Think about it...it's a nice set.

For the "current", the Flourish framelit makes a lovely flower and the "new", is the the Celebrate You framelits...you it's a little mix of everything.  This page is intended to have three photos matted along the center black cardstock.  I think I will use Adria's Bday photos as the candles in the DSP make it seem a little bday-ish.

More Scrapbook Layouts - Hang Your Stocking

Well it's certainly felt like winter has had a stranglehold on us this year and it would still be appropriate to scrapbook Holiday and Winter photos (yes, I realize that many of us are never caught up so it's always "in season") but I'm hoping that we've turned the corner into spring today!  I understand that the northern part of the state still has a foot of snow and more expected this week?  Here in the Milwaukee area, I'm rooting for photos of flowers, pools and camping trips.  Oh pretty please!  I think my crocuses will perhaps bloom this week and I know that in the past we've had them blooming as early as Feb so we are a tad behind this year....Mother Nature has taken a page out of my book..."behind" and "manic" in everything this year.  :)

Amazing You Hostess Club Card

if I could make 100 of these simple and sweet cards using the Tutti-Fruitti Cards and Envelopes from Hostess Club, I would.  This card was inspired by a demo in the UK, Monica Gale and I switched it up some to make it work with the products that I have on hand.  I wasn't completely in love with the Amazing You set, meaning it wasn't love at first sight but my heart is a fickle thing and I can say I LOVE LOVE this sweet little set.  What's not to love...even if you say that you have enough flowers...the words and fonts are amazingly adorable.  You NEED it and you can only get it FREE, thru the end of March, with a qualifying order.

Have I convinced you to give the layouts class a try?  How about tempting you with another adorable layout?  This was the double page layout from the class last week.  I have a HUGE stash of retired Designer Series paper from years gone by and it was so gratifying to use up almost the entire pack of DSP.  I used the old Birthday Bash paper and I think my scrappers were also excited about these pages.  We celebrated Adria's 21st Birthday last week and since she's doing her internship in Chicago and was only home for a quick visit that weekend it had to be a quick dinner out with some special friends.  Ok, maybe the fact that she also had a futsal tournament in Milwaukee for UW-Whitewater and  I was on a 4th day of a 4 day, 3rd shift stretch may have had a little to do with it too...but hey, I gave up my cape and Wonder Woman Belt some time ago.  

Ella thought Adria needed some of her favorite cereal and she had tagged it with a cute little saying about we are so "lucky" to have her in our family.  Ella's Love Language is definitely "gifts."   So these are a few of the photos (ok, not the soccer one for this page but I wanted to share the photo here anyway)  that I will be adding to this page.  Slam Dunk...sweet page completed...just like that!  Seriously I can't imagine why anyone WOULDNT want to come to these classes!  :)   Mark your calendars for next Thursday, March 22nd for the NEXT class.  It's seriously fun!

Feb Scrapbook Layouts Page - Bubble Over

So isn't this just so stinkin' Cute?! This was a page that we stamped at the Layouts class back in Feb and I think it would be adorable for so many different occasions, Birthday, Anniversaries, New Job, Graduation (from college of course, but hey it's soda bottles if you are wondering...)  Maybe even St. Pat's day pub crawl if you are taking my Soda Bottles and making them beer bottles...or maybe it's celebrating your first batch of home brewed Kombucha.  You never know....regardless, I'm pretty sure you can find something fun and festive to use this page for.

Can you spy the number of free Sale-a-bration products on this layout?  There are quite a few!  Here's a quick tip for the bottles as well.  I didn't ink the stamp completely.  I left the top 1/2" uninked and used a sponge dauber to soften the edge of the inked area to smudge it a little.  When it's stamped on White CS and cut out, it looks like the glass is clear and it's filled with Orange or Mountain Dew soda.  I know...adorable!  Come to Layouts class on March 22nd to make 4 pages for yourself.  It's loads of fun.

Petal Garden Memories and More

Sympathy Cards... they are a little ray of love and care sent during a dark time.  We've all been there where a simple piece of paper has given us a little hug and helped us to take another step.  So of all the cards we send, I think Sympathy cards are probably the most important...so then, why don't we have them on hand?  I'm sure it's just that we don't like thinking about the loss and sadness associated with them.  I have a solution..stamp them in bulk ahead of time.

This past summer I had some requests for a Sympathy Card Stamp A Stack class and so I put together 8 Thinking of You/Sympathy cards for my class attendees.  I wanted them to be simple, serene and elegant.  I felt the Petal Garden Memories and More Card Pack would be the perfect fit. 

Memories & More Card Packs are just that...perfect for Memory Keeping but great for More...like cardmaking Sympathy cards.  I designed 8 cards that fit my requirements, simple, serene and elegant.  I used a handful of other items and stamp sets to make the cards in the classroom.  The really nice part is that because each of the preprinted, double-sided cards included in the kit that I used come 2 of each of the 26 designs for the 3"x4" size and 20 of the 4"x6" cards....meaning that by adding just a few basic sheets of cardstock for bases, these cards could be recreated in duplicate...yes that's 16 Sympathy cards in no time.

Party Panda Scrapbook Layouts

Those Sale-a-bration Pandas ARE SO stinkin' cute but don't forget you've only got 24 more days to place a qualifying order to get them... then they are gone, gone gone.  :(

Here's just one of the adorable things you can do with the Party  Pandas.  This was a layout that we did this past month in my Layouts class.  Isn't it totally adorable?  My job today is to upload photos (I'm adding 2 and a journaling space to this page) but it was intended for three portrait photos but like most pages in this style of class, it's adaptable!  I also have the option of rotating the page and the panda/circle image 90 degrees if I find my photos work better as a landscape option.  This class certainly helps you rack up the completed pages and helps you think a little more creatively and out of the box.  Give it a try!

I'm hoping to print my photos in black and white to coordinate with the panda bear and I'm using snapshots we took at Ella's Parent Lunch Day.  I think it will be adorable once it's complete.  I also need to whip up a card for next week's Bingo using the Panda Bears.  Eeeks I've got a few things on the list today.  Better crack-a-lack.

And Even Better if it's Irish Coffee

I love coffee.  I'm sure that comes as a big surprise. :)   I wanted to share a lovely little card that we did for Hostess Club WAY back in January but I think, like coffee, it's timeless.  Actually, in fact I think this is perfect timing and not late at all.  Wouldn't this be an adorable card to celebrate St. Pat's day and all things Irish.....like Irish coffee.  Wouldn't the perfect sentiment stamp for the inside be something like..."and giddiness is Irish coffee"  The possibilities are ENDLESS.  And shoot, it's even green.  What's not to like?  I know I loved everything Irish and Ireland when we visited...coffee, not withstanding.

The funny thing is...we didn't even have any Irish Coffee in Ireland.  We had tea, tea and more tea.  Now I like tea too but by the end of the trip I was dying for a good cup of coffee. :)  Quite often the coffee was instant (the horrors!) so we opted for the tea, which was fabulous btw.  I wonder if I would have enjoyed the coffee more if I'd asked for an "Irish Coffee"?    So yes this would be a good "Irish" card and I think I will save this one for one of my favorite aunts, the one that went to Ireland with me as we usually pretend to be Irish on March 17th.  :)

Party Panda Variations...

I promised you Party Panda sketch variations yet this week and here it is, already Saturday!  I've got two variations to share today and since such a fun sketch, I think I'll work on a few more.  Actually, why don't you try it and shoot me a text or email with a photo of your variation.  I think that's a GREAT idea...I've been meaning to start some sketch challenges on my Facebook Page and I think this would be a great one to start with!  Here's my Panda from the other day...

Paper Pumpkin Play Date

AS you may be aware...I do a Paper Pumpkin Playdate at my one of my favorite coffee shops in the area...Mama D's in Wales WI.  The last Tuesday of the month, any Paper Pumpkin subscribers are invited to bring their kits down to the shop and hang out, drink coffee and work on their kits.  It's a great excuse to get out and get some stamping accomplished.  I supply an "additional" variation using the kit  for a little extra inspiration.  Sometimes you just need to get away and craft!  No pressure, no worries.
